Knit Pink Project

So I was doing my regular Lunch Hour Browsing at work and I came across this.

I think it is a great cause and all the knitwear designers out there can help. The Site has not yet launched but before launch they are calling for original knitwear pattern submissions. The last date for submissions is April 30th, 2008. I will try and come up with one in time.

Below is an extract from the Website.

"The Idea

The Knit Pink Project is a new online shop idea that will support breast cancer research through the sale of exclusive designer knitting patterns & other knitting related items. All profits from the website will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Association.

Breast cancer is a very serious disease among women in Canada. Click here to read the latest stats from the CBCA website.

Pictures - Stack of Diamonds Convertible

Here are some modeled photos of the Stack of Diamonds Convertible that I made. Don't kill me but I still have to add the buttons on both ends to convert the stole into a Bolero (When buttons the ends become the sleeves.)

My previous post on this project is here.

Rangoli Hat Complete !!!

Today is only the second day that I worked on this hat and it is complete. I just love it, although I did not make the bobbles that were there in the original pattern. I must say what timing, it finished just at the time of Holi (Indian festival of colors). A Rangoli is also an art form from India that makes use of colors.

Pattern: Cabled Rangoli Hat
Source: DesiKnitter

Materials: Cascade 220 (Light Teal)
Amount: Just a little less than 1 skien
Needles: US 5 (3.75 mm)

Started: Mar 18, 2008
Finished: Mar 23, 2008

Now I think I am going to work on using up all my stash. It is growing !!! My initial process was work on one project at a time and only buy as much yarn. Somewhere down the line that kinda changed ;)

More Finished Objects

It has been a good weekend. I was able to finish another project. Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmerman. I absolutely love the pattern and made this project as a familiarization with the pattern. The next attempt would be to modify it a bit.

Pattern Source: The Opinionated Knitter/ The Knitting Workshop by Elizabeth Zimmerman.
Yarn: Red Heart Soft Yarn from stash.
Start Date: 15 March 2008 late evening.
Finish Date: 16 March 2008 late evening.

And last weekend I had finished the Star Blanket.

And all this for Baby Krishiv.

Birth Of a Star !!!

It's still a slow recovery for the hand but I am getting better. Have been getting tired very easily and so have been taking it easy.

However, I have been able to work on the Star Blanket for my new nephew Krishiv back in India and I must say its come out well for the first try. Ofcourse I would make a few changes the next time I make it. (Yes, there will be another one sometime in the future.)

For now, I am trying to finish it as early as possible so that I may finish "Designer for DH" and then work on something new. I really wanna finish my projects in progress as soon as possible.

Slow week !!!

It's been a slow week. Especially with my burnt left hand. Am not able to use it, am supposed to keep it elevated at all times. Then I got a TT shot on the right arm so cant move much of it either. Have been working from home doing mostly reading and compiling documents. Typing is pretty rare these days, but I had to post this one. I finished my Convertible, even with the obstacles, and blocked it too.

I used 2.5 skiens of Cascade 220 (Light Teal)
Started: Feb 23, 2008
Finished: Feb 29, 2008
I used the "Stacked Diamonds" stitch from Donna Kooler's Encyclopedia of Crochet.
On ravelry here.

Should have finished earlier if not for the injury.

This can be used as a stole, a scarf or a shrug.
I will be adding buttons to either end to be able to convert it to a shrug when I want.
I thought it was a good idea for layering in offices.

(Inspired by Robyn Chachula's Convertible)
